Kiss my ass world!

I'm back and this time it's personal.....

Nefertiti was a man?

I remember watching a Documemnatry on the discovery channel last year which featured the findings of Nefertiti's mummy..I think it was called Nefertiti resurrected. Some scientist then proceeded to "reconstruct" her face using the mummy. I remember thinking...really? Seriously Discovery Channel..are we sure we wanna go with this image? I mean such a strong jaw for a woman but whatever your the ones with the experts..Well turns out I was right... it was not Neferitti..in fact it was n't even a woman it was a dude check it out here. Seriously she looks like a Somali dude in drag ....

Ayaan Hirsi: Infidel

So far, in my 28 years as a Muslim woman i have accepted a few truths. That i will never feel a part of the ummah and that i will always be on the margins looking in. I will never experience true brotherhood/sisterhood fully and authentically as my male counterpart. It's sad, but it's my truth ..so far. The muslim world today is define so much by the struggles of men and the history of men. Within this masculine world some women have managed to create a space for themselves here in the West. Generally these women's faith cannot be tested, women like Asma Barlas, Ingrid Matson, Amina Waddud, Leila Ahmed, Fatiman Mersinissi. Their concern for the state of Muslim Ummah and it's treatment of women is shaped by a deep sense of love for Islam. They are part of the discourse and not detcahed critics of it. These women have managed to storm pretty controversial issues and conflicting perspectives that have placed many of them on the margins of Muslim Community.

Then there is Ayaan Hirsi, who is a media darling and a self proclaimed Atheist. Ayaan is not a Muslim. She is a social critic even more she is a mediawhore who's only ploy is to startle and attack with no real connection or understanding of the subject matter she is attacking. She knows very little about Islam yet she is heralded as a courageous voice amidst the extremists in the Muslim world. A brave woman. Really? Who's champion is she? Muslim women? Not really because she's an atheist. Muslim women see nothing more than a cultural imperialist and we are enormously suspicious of her. She is not talking to us on a common level but rather about us to others in superficial and dismissive manner. She has trivialised our struggle, she stole our struggle used it to her advantage and for that we can't stand her.

Interesting.....

"Although both men and women look at the image of George Brett when directed to find out information about his sport and position, men tend to focus on private anatomy as well as the face. For the women, the face is the only place they viewed"(Source).

The evolution of “female.”

Below commentary is from Feministing.com (Source)

There was an “On Language” piece yesterday in the New York Times Magazine, “Woman vs. Female.” It discusses the fact that “woman” is increasingly being used in the media as an adjective rather than a noun (ex. “woman voter” as opposed to “female voter”), and questions whether the term “female” is dying out.

My favorite part was at the end w (hen the author think he’s slick by calling us feminists out:

But here’s a development above politics that is breathtaking in its cultural contradiction: feminists everywhere have begun to turn on the word female. What’s next?

Womanism.

I guess he didn’t think to look it up to find that this term actually already exists.
